A junkyard on a street corner, under the pale light of a full moon –
Many Jellicle Cats come together to take part in the annual Jellicle Ball.

Jellicle Cats are energetic, infinitely individual, and possess resilient thinking. They celebrate their own lives, weather adversity, and stubbornly survive, refusing to be tamed by humans.

And tonight is the night of the special Ball, where an old Cat will choose the purest Jellicle Cat of them all. Who will be allowed to be reborn into a new Jellicle life?
The cats sing and dance all night long.

By and by, dawn approaches, and as tension fills the air, the name of the one cat who will be allowed to ascend to heaven and live a new life is announced.
